Pastor Scott grew up in a nominally Christian home with a mother who is a Methodist and a father who was a Catholic. After experiencing the pain of divorce, Scott went through a season of rebelling as a teenager and through a series of wrong choices found himself in trouble with the law. Feeling desperate and knowing he needed change, in the summer of 2000, he attended a church service with a friend during which he had a radical encounter with Jesus. Six months later he received the baptism of Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. It was this second encounter with God which proved to be the start of his journey of transformation.

Almost immediately, Scott began to sense a ministry call on His life. However, he would go on to spend several years in Los Angeles working in the music business. Feeling the call to ministry return, in 2016, Scott relocated to Colorado Springs to attend Charis Bible College. After graduation, Scott took a staff position at Charis teaching classes on prayer and public speaking and helping to train others in the ministry of teaching. In October of 2022, Scott resigned his position at Charis Bible College to begin preparing to to plant The Heart Church.

Pastor Israel grew up in a spirit-filled home in Albuquerque, NM. She attended college at the University of New Mexico studying to become a professional counselor. Upon graduating, she began working as a counselor in the Albuquerque Public School system. Late in 2016, she began to feel God leading her to attend Bible college and relocate to Colorado in 2017 to attend Charis Bible College.

Pastors Scott and Israel met one another at a conference at Charis Bible College in the summer of 2017, and were married in Colorado Springs on July 4th 2019.
